Yes I like to tell ,because I believe that problem will grow bigger, why most people are not interested or even some breeders go on with that type of genetic diseases in dogs without any care for the breed and generations.

That can be dangerous for families with little children!! or people with little knowledge in dogs at all. Also its very terrible, horrorfull, cost much money and nerves to be owner of epileptic dogs.

I have also not known of that at all, before I rescued Tatty, but I`m glad to step in that problem in any way! I have been to the court for 2 years.

Tatty`s breeder said Tatty is a KO and she is a dangerous dog from a fighting line.
Tatty is no KO in my eyes, she is a simple mixed breed with a genetic problem thats all.

Something in Tatty falls in my eyes quickly when she was young. I have just wait and watch her.

This type of behavior which I saw makes me feel unsure , until waiting and watching .That is a mix of uncontrolled postaggressiv depression without any reason, attacking seems like don`t no why, what, and even I saw bumping into walls with high speed-wondering - she is not blind, how can that happened?

Their is no Thyreoid problem (sekundär epilepsy), which can make different kinds of aggression, also being afraid.

Epilepsy
Nervous and hyperactivty dogs like that start barking without any reason sitting for a wall in te middle of the night for example.

The worsest type of some behaviour is, when they start dancing in circels and going after this in high speed runnig like mad.

I have told this to a lot of Vets, before Epilepsy in Tatty starts , but they laugh.
When you see this in dogs, you simply need a neurologycal vet with best knowledge!

In the second year of age we hear a wild and terrible noise in our house- it was Tatty in her first nightmare seizure.

It looks as if that will break my poor dog in peaces. Tatty is running wild on the floor, something white is coming out of the mouth, also she is incontinent, crying and her mind is far away not to reach.
I thought she is going to die in that moment.

The postictal state of epilepsy
After 2 minutes thats over , she awakes blind with a high "aggression" ,why she can`t see and don`t no whats happened. She looks like she want to attacke everything what makes noises or moves, her pupills a big like tomatoes.
She looks simply like a wild and dangerous animal , not like a dog.

In the years their are some very hard and horrorfull days and nights, lot of hurts, times thinking carefully about put her down asking myself what I`m doing here.

Than I saw more and more of that owners struggling from Epilepsy, loosing their dogs in the worsest type you ever can lost a partner.

In the moment we have a lot of epileptic movements (primär/secundär) in different types of dogs, like standart poodle, Tervueren, Huskies,Hunting dogs,Border Terrier with epileptoid cramping movements,German Shepards, Setter,Bordercollies!!! and a lot of others for example from our Dog Group the Do Khyi also known as Tibet Mastiff .

The wild syndrom of red cocker Spaniels is often Lipofuzinose, also Retriervers and Labradors are in Epilepsy and other genetic problems seen very often!

some different pictures shows

- komplex focal seizures

-focal seizures

-dissorder movements , where dogs can`t came out without help, standing for walls or doors ect.

-The worsest type the grand mal seizure!

If they last longer than 5 minutes, its called Status epilepticus. Those dogs need quickly help, otherwise they die painfully in that struggle, they get cocked and burn down.

Also you can have a mix of focal, complex and grand mal seizures in one dog, even over hours, days being in a state from the
Aura ( beginning) to the postical (after seizing) behaving or even cluters of grand mal seizures like 5 up to 10 and more grand mals, here you need quickly help too.

Really dangerous is the postictal state, a dog out of order, also that can happen in the aura.

The focal and other dissorder movement can also be dangerous, those dogs can even get cramping/seizing "only" in their mouth ,can`t open the teeth for minutes , looks like they bite, but they don`t- thats "only" a form of it at all. "It" can attack the feet and they become hard like wood, than the dog can`t move, painfully waiting until its over until given medicine.

So they can "bite" very hard in that dissorder in everything and no way to open the teeth quickly to get fresh air, the tongue is out and becoming blue after a few minutes.
Breethdeppression....

The Teeth and mouth are like beton- you simply need valium to move out of it at all.

I will look further to give owners tipps for the diets, but first I read in the forum from peanutbutter, sorry I understand not one word only

luminalu i okresowo bromek

first Luminal should be given every 12 Hours, so for example in the morning at 9.00 and in the night at 21.00!!
If you give it later, change the dosis or forget it, it can bring seizures at all. Look for the Bloodlevels of Luminal with a standart reaserch one Hour before given the morning dosis. Where is the level? If it is between 20-35 or higher?

A toxic dosis over 40 is not the best way, it only makes quality of dogs Life to a poor Junkie in same ways without any qualities at all for the dog.

Look for helping the Liver with Mariendistel products, called Sylimarine.

Bromid,a terrible old salt-drug
I have very bad experiences with Bromid, my dog starts to get a Bromismus and so I have to move away from that drug quickly, before loading dosis works my Tatty. Can`t walk or stand up alone from this drug over weeks, worsest condition at all, get no breeth, but every time hungry like a wolf!

Also other Bromismus signs come quickly, another dog, a Border [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] showes the same.

Be carefull with Bromid it can also trigger the Seizures!!

Look in your Food and for the Salt which is inside , if you give Bromid, you should check out Salt levels in Food!

Ask your Vet for food which can be given together with Bromid. Information about Bromid and Food are on the Epilepsy Guardian Angel site.
